Therapy & the rehabilitation team
Rehabilitation at the Aatalclinic strives to achieve the highest possible standard of physical and mental fitness for patients. Rehabilitation goals are optimal independence and reintegration into family, profession and social context. A neurologic disease, l.o. stroke can cause different impairments of mobility, speech and cognition. Therefore physicans, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, logopedics, linguists and specialists for brain function work together as an interdisciplinary team. They have expert knowledge in the treatment of neurologic patients. With consideration of the individual medical status the physicans will devise an individual therapy schedule, based on the individuals rehabilitation potential. This therapy schedule will be adapted to the individuals conditions during the process of rehabilitation. Special forms of individual treatment for apallic or coma patients are also available. 
Medical specialists
At the Aatalclinic specialists in Neurology, Psychiatry, Internal Medicine and Cardiology work together for your health care to provide comprehensive and broad treatment capabilities. Additional physicians specialized in Neurosurgery, Urology, Physical Therapy, Chirotherapy and Acupuncture are in full time attendance as well. Due to this widely qualified staff, the Aatalclinic is also able to provide alternative treatment methods, especially for patients with chronic pain, aches and health problems that require a multidisciplinary approach.
Logopedics
The logopedic team treats patients with the following disabilities:
  • Aphasia (speech disorder)
  • Dysarthria (disorder of speaking)
  • Dysphagia (chewing and swallowing disorders)
  • Aphonia and Dysphonia (voice disorders)

The logopedic team of the Aatalclinic Wuennenberg use advanced diagnostic equipment including functional x-ray analysis to diagnose swallowing disorders. A computer based neurophonetic laboratory for specific analysis of the speech process is also available. The Aatalclinic provides intensive logopedic treatments with outstanding advanced logopedic and medical diagnostic equipment and treatment facilities.

Because of the specific requirements of speech training treatment possibilities may differ for non-German speaking patients and must be arranged individually with our admission office and medical staff prior to admittance.

Therapeutic Nursing/Rehabilitation Nurses

In our clinic the nurses care for the patients on the basis of an individual patient - nursing relationship model. Therapeutic goals of other therapeutic disciplines are supported by the nursing staff and are integrated into the individual daily nursing routine.
Check up & prevention
Based on medical expertise and use of advanced technology the Aatalclinic offers a variety of programs to assess your health risk factors and offers individual advice on how to prevent major diseases and adjust your lifestyle according to your personal risk.

Dialysis

The Aatalclinic offers in cooperation with one of the major providers of dialysis in Germany the opportunity of in-house dialysis during the stay at the clinic.

Treatment of functional brain impairment

Stroke, brain trauma and neurosurgery may cause impaired concentration, perception, memory, learning and thinking capabilities. Neuroscientists have developed special programs and methods for each type of disorder to support and train the remaining abilities and skills.

An individual treatment schedule is worked out for the patient to train the brain functions. Individual therapeutic sessions, computer aided training and group sessions are part of the therapeutic program.

In our support group sessions patients exchange experiences and get feedback from other patients, who are familiar with the specific mental and emotional situations.

Also family members of the patients have the opportunity to join special meetings in order to get informed about the disease and get suggestions on how to cope
